Welcome

Dear Colleague,

The 25th European Congress of Pathology (ECP 2013) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 31 August to 4 September 2013. On behalf of the European Society of Pathology and the Portuguese Society of Pathology / Portuguese Division of the International Academy of Pathology we would like to invite you to join us in Lisbon.

The motto of the ECP 2013: Pathology: A gate to the future

is symbolically represented by the Tower of Belém. The icon of the ECP 2013 is a monument close to the Congress Centre that commemorates the voyage towards the unknown of the Portuguese navigators.

Pathology, in addition to its traditional clinical problem solving role, is entering uncharted waters – this notion is reflected in the scientific programme that has been prepared mainly by the ESP Working Groups and encompasses 23 topics, four Keynote lectures and a number of very special, “Special Sessions”.

The scientific activities will be centred upon Diagnosis, Prognosis and Prediction, having Personalized Pathology as the ultimate goal.

Following the motto of the Congress, a particular attention has been paid to the Residents who will organize among other scientific and social activities a Plenary Residents Seminar whose “Grande Finale” will take place at the closing events of the Congress.

We are looking forward to welcoming you and spending a great time in Lisbon.

Prof. Fátima Carneiro
President of the European Society of Pathology

Prof. Manuel Sobrinho Simões
Chair of the Local Organising Committee
of ECP 2013
